Create Survey

UserOverview offers a way to create professional surveys in just a few minutes by choosing from one of the 23 ready-to-use survey templates included in the system, or creating a brand new survey filled with customized questions and designed in exactly the way that you like it.

The first step is to click on "Create New Survey" which you get to by clicking the “Surveys” tab from the “Home Page” while you are logged into your account. On the “Surveys” page, you will see two tabs to the left at the top, “Create New Survey” and “Survey Templates.” To choose a blank slate which you can totally design and write yourself, pick the former. You can also then pick the “Survey Templates” to give yourself a format you can modify to suit your needs by choosing one of the templates. Then simply edit the questions as desired, rearrange them if you want, and publish.

Do you offer survey templates?

Glad you asked that question! In fact, our team here at UserOverview has created 23 different survey templates for you to choose. Chances are one of the templates will be just right for what you need. You can use one of them to create your survey or choose a blank slate to start with, design, and customize a survey of your very own. If you choose to create your survey using a template, it is also highly customizable. You can rearrange questions, modify the questions, change which answers to pick from, add more questions of your own, delete some of ours- there are no restrictions with the templates and they are very user friendly and easy to work with.

Back
Can I add images, photos or logos?

As a PRO subscriber to UserOverview, you do have the ability to add logos, photos, and images to your surveys. You must use one of these format types to add them to your survey: GIF, JPG or PNG. It is easy to add these to your survey by simply uploading them when you initiate the survey. Photos and logos give your surveys a more customized and professional look, which can lead to better and more accurate survey responses. Think about adding photos or logos to each or your surveys for the best results.

Back
How can I add survey template as survey?

You can easily add a survey template by clicking on the “Survey Template” link on the top of the “Surveys” page. This opens up the “Survey Template” popup window. From there, you can add a survey template by choosing one of the 23 different survey templates on the left side of the page.

Then click on “Use this Template” link which is found at the bottom right hand side of the page. Now review the questions listed on this survey, modify any or all of them to suit your needs and proceed to publish the survey and start gathering responses.

Back
How many surveys can I create?

There is no limit to the number of surveys you can create, no matter if you are a Basic or Pro user of the UserOverview system. Create surveys for any type of situation and use them freely- there is no cost at all if you are a Basic user, and the cost is very minimal for those who choose to upgrade their service to the Pro version and enable adding photos, images, and logos to personalize your surveys. Note that surveys which have a personalized heading are often seen as more professional and the response rate can be greater than the Basic version.

Back

For just $5 per month, you can upgrade your service to Pro level and enjoy the unlimited question surveys as well as being able to add your custom logos and photos to your surveys.

Back

Back
Multiple choice-Single Answer

This type of question is designed to ask a question and provide multiple answers, only one of which can be chosen. To write multiple choice single answer questions, simply write each choice on a new line by pressing the "Enter" key. You can also enter a text box so that the respondent can “write in” a response of his or her own choosing. The layout for the responses can also be changed between a radio button layout and a drop down button layout, depending upon what your preferences are as they pertain to your survey.

Back
Text input Entry

The text input entry field boxes are to be used for text, comments, numbers, essays, and explanations as part of your survey. These text input entry boxes can be in several different forms. There are single line textboxes, a comment field with a few lines for respondents to give you their opinions as they pertain to the survey. Essay boxes have a number of lines so that a much longer narrative can be entered by survey respondents. Descriptive text boxes give respondents room to give their feedback on your product or service. You can change which type of design you want by going to the Text Input Entry in the questions popup window, then under Display Layout, pick one of the dropdowns which fits what you want for this question.

Back
Multiple Choice-Multiple Answer

It is also possible to write multiple choice questions that also have multiple choice answers, so that your respondents can choose more than one answer if more than one pertains. (Select all the answers that apply.) You will write the answers to the questions in the same manner, by writing a new answer on each line and pressing enter. Again, you can choose different types of display layouts by using the simple drop down boxes for the fields.

Back
Date

The date field is customizable as well. You can easily set the date field by using the drop down in the question display that you have when you click the “New question” button and it opens a popup window.

Back
Rating Scale

The rating scale can be chosen from answer types in the “New question” popup window, in the drop down box. This is a useful question type when you want respondents to select a single rating as a response. After picking rating scale, you can enter each of your answers on a separate line, entering between each one to separate them. You enter your rating scale so that they can pick from a range of answers.

Back
Multiple Textbox With labels

The multiple textbox with labels style question is designed so that you can ask a question, and then add blank lines for the respondents to answer. For instance, you can put in what are your three favorite ice cream flavors, and put in three blank lines for them to answer your question. You can add labels for each of the answers that you want.

Back
Matrix of choice - One answer per row

This type of question can add matrix type questions, which give you a choice of multiple answers for a number of questions. For instance, you can add questions and the system will add corresponding bubbles for each of the Matrix type questions, with only one answer per row being possible. To write each of the multiple answer choices, write each of the choices on a new line by pressing the enter key after each one of them.

Back
Matrix of choice - Multiple answers per row

Matrix of choice questions with multiple answers allowed per row. More than one answer per row is possible with this type of question. For instance, you can add questions that have multiple answers like “which of our services will you use?” and the answer bubbles will be set up so that more than one can be chosen. To write multiple answer choices, write each one in a new line by pressing the enter key.

Back
Demographic info

You can set up a question in your survey for the respondent to add their demographic information, and check the boxes for each of the fields you wan them to enter. All of the basic demographic fields are here: last name, first name, addresses line 1, address line 2, city, state, country, email, and phone. You can make the surveys anonymous and still pick up geographical info by choosing just city or state, etc.

What happens if I reach 150 responses with a Basic account?

To view the remaining responses, you must upgrade to a Pro account.

If you are a Basic subscriber, your functionality is the same as a Pro account, but with some limitations. With either type of subscription, you are able to create as many surveys as you like, and gather as many responses as you want. The limitation on the Basic accounts is that after you view the first 150 responses, you won’t be able to view the rest without upgrading your account to a Pro subscription. The surveys will keep gathering no matter how many responses you get, but to view the rest you must upgrade your account.

My Surveys Page:

The survey is storing all of the responses, and you can see the number of responses by visiting the “My Surveys” page.

Response Summary Page:

Clicking the “View Responses” tab opens up the “Response Summary” page, where you can see the first 150 responses collected in response to your survey. Simply click the link to “Upgrade Now” if you’d like to purchase a Pro subscription and gain access to all of your responses.

Back
Can I upgrade the Basic account at any time?

Yes—you are able to upgrade your account any time you’d like. Surveys which are created during the Basic membership period will be upgraded, and you can now add Pro features like Exporting Data, Filtering Responses, Cross Tabs Responses, etc. You won’t lose your surveys or your data when you upgrade. Data analysis will be available for all existing surveys.

Back
Is there a money back guarantee?

Absolutely! We know that you’ll love our surveys and our services, and we’re so confident, we offer a 30 day money-back guarantee. You must be 100% satisfied, or we give you back your bucks. Just go to our feedback page and send us a message to get a full refund of your purchase price.

Back
I currently have a free Basic account. If I upgrade will my data or surveys disappear?

Nope! When you upgrade from Basic to Pro, it does not affect your data at all- except that it gives you access to more, and allows you to filter it in different ways for more meaningful results.

Back
Will my data and surveys be preserved if I cancel my account?

No. Sorry for the bad news here, but if you cancel your account- it is completely gone. All of your data- surveys, responses, and reports all completely removed from our servers. This is not reversible, so think twice before you do it.

Back
Are there any account setup fees? Cancellation Fees etc?

No. Good news on this question. You can use the system for absolutely nothing. NO set up fees, no cancellation fees, and you can sign up anytime and cancel whenever you want. (However, you won’t want to0 we promise.)

In addition, of course, you may want to invest the nominal monthly fee for the enhanced version of the program.

Back
I forgot my password. What should I do?

Retrieving a lost password is easy. Just click on the “Forgot Password” link available on the “login” page. That opens up a “Forgot Password” window where you can enter your email and click on “Retrieve It.” The system will send you your login information via email, and you’ll be back in business.

Back
How do I cancel my account?

Just use our feedback form to send a cancellation request, and we’ll completely delete your account. Be sure you don’t need any of the data you’ve collected, as this is not reversible and you will not have access to it any longer.

Back
Can I export data to Spreadsheet?

Yes- you can export your data. To export it to a Spreadsheet, click on the “Export” tab, then select “Export format” to spreadsheet and finally click on “Export Result.”

Back
Analyze Results

To analyze results for any of your surveys, just press the "Report" icon next to that survey title. That will open the Report page. At the top of this page, you will see a description of your survey’s results as listed here:

Date published, Expires, Number of questions, Attempts.

On this Report page, you are also able to see what responses you get for each question. For each question, you’ll see two columns. The first column gives you the percentage of responses to that question, and the second column gives the total number of responses. This way, you can see at a glance which questions people are responding well to, and make any adjustments as needed.

Back
Export data

There are several export options available to Pro subscribers for downloading your data in summary format, or detailed format. You can export your information at anytime without affecting the gathering of continual results, which will continue to accrue. For the most convenient analysis, you can download the full report in either .pdf formant or in a spreadsheet.

Back
Are results available in real time?

Yes! All of the reports generated are in real time and include all responses gathered up to that point.

Back
What are Filters?

Pro subscribers have the ability to filter responses by different criteria: you can either “Filter by Responses” or “Filter by Properties.”

The filters let you look for certain data or patterns within your responses, with a goal of building queries that enable you to see quickly a subset of your overall data. There are two steps to this:

  1. Decide first how you wish to analyze your data before you create the survey filter rule.

    • Filter by Responses (such as department, male/female, location, course, etc.).
    • Filter by Properties (like Response Dates, IP Address, etc.)

  2. Design your Survey according to your needs:

In order to sort your responses by specific questions and answer choices, you must create them when you design your survey.

For example, if you want to sort by males vs. females, ask survey respondents to choose between the two in a gender question. While in the filter area, choose the question that you want to filter, and pick the answer which you’d like to filter. (For instance, pick female, and only the female answers will be visible when you choose filter.)

Back
What are Cross Tabs?

Cross tabs, and cross tabulated data, is helpful for comparing two or more survey questions and determining how they are interrelated.

Statistically, it is a distribution between two or more discrete variables like demographics and product use.

Back
What are Variables?

Variables are properties of some object, event, or person that can take on different values. Discrete variables are those that contain possible values of “discrete” points on a scale.

The number of visitors to a demo is a discrete variable. When conducting analysis of surveys, researchers often manipulate variables in order to test for an outcome. Survey data gives you a synopsis of tallied numbers and information. Based on the specific sets, and subsets, of that data, a researcher can formulate a hypothesis and test it to see if certain discrete variables prove what the overall data presents.

Here is an example:

A researcher might compare the effectiveness of multiple beauty soap products, and use the cleaning products as the discrete variables in the survey.

Back
What is a Cross Tabulation Table?

Cross tabulation tables, or cross tabs, get their name from the layout of variable definitions into columns and rows which create a table or matrix format.

  • Rows and columns in each table correspond directly to the values of the first and second variables.
  • The cells in the table contain the frequency or number of times each corresponding pair of values was chosen.
